With this site, old some XVIII th old foundries using the iron ore of Vernay-Semelay and the resources of the immense forests of the area.

PRENELAY MOUNT
Altitude 850 m.

MILLAY
The church was rebuilt on the ruins of the a XIth century, burned in 1570.

MOULINS-ENGILBERT
With the limit of Bazois and Morvan, Moulins-Engilbert is collected around its church of late Gothic style.
There remain only two turns of the castle where was celebrated the marriage of Philippe the Good Duke of Burgundy.

To see
  • the church, the pulpit, tomb stone of Albert de Grandrie,
  • the Fair in Charolais (first Tuesday of the month),
  • the Market with the Dial (sheep, every Monday morning and bovines, every Tuesday morning).

PREPORCHE
The church was rebuilt after 1570 on a primitive construction destroyed by the Protestants.

SEMELAY, the HILLOCK of MONTECHO
Small flowered village, equipped with a beautiful XIIth century Roman church.
Old Gallic oppidum which belonged to the system of defense of Eduens.
Old mill on Alène.

The BEUVRAY MOUNT
Occupied as of Néolytique, Eduens build there their capital, BIBRACTE, at the second century before J.C.
This city received successively the visit of Vercingétorix, which was recognized there head of the Gallic one, then of victorious César which completed there the drafting of its "Comments on the War of Gaules".
A convent of Cordeliers settled there at the XIVth century, this one was let at the XVIIth century.
In 1996, the Museum of Celtic Civilizations there opens its doors and presents the site of Bibracte by replaçant it in the context of the civilization of the oppidas.

TERNANT
Two triptychs of Flemish origin of the XVth century beginning are visible in the church.
They were given to the church of Ternant by the Baron Philippe de Ternant, large Chamberlain of Philippe the Good, Duc of Burgundy.
The church also has a wood Christ of XVth century old cedar and two statues of the same time.
One also notices in Ternant the remainders of a XIIth century old castle, with a superb chimney and some vestiges of the old fortifications.

VANDENESSE
XVIth century the feudal castle preserved well, is built in the content of the valley. (no visit).

VILLAPOURCON
A village typically morvandiau. Beautiful church, the Martyrdom, admirable site, picturesque roads.
